AUTO 1504 Automotive Safety & Pollution Prevention

This entry-level course is designed to satisfy Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements for newly-hired employees in the automotive service sector. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be issued an S/P2 (Safety & Pollution Prevention) certificate that is nationally recognized as the industry standard for environmental and safety awareness training. In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:

1. Describe and explain respirators/air quality safety regulations and standards.

2. Explain and list fire safety procedures.

3. Define and identify safety regulations and procedures preventing potential slips and falls.

4. Describe safety regulations and procedures when operating power tools, lifts, and welding equipment.

5. List and explain blood-borne pathogens prevention and procedures.

6. Explain safety regulationsand procedures when operating vehicles.

7. Define and explain violence in the workplace and preventive measures.

8. State and identify chemical safety regulations and answer questions about Materials Safety Data Sheets.

9. Explain pollution prevention procedures for the following areas: • Oil and similar fluids • Antifreeze • Floor drains • Absorbents and spills • Air conditioning • Batteries • Asbestos • Tires
