Student Accounts Log In
E-MAIL AND ONLINE WINS ACCOUNTS
All enrolled students will be assigned a WLU email account. Administration and faculty will distribute information to students through the students WLU email account. Students must regularly check their email accounts in order to stay informed of class assignments, deadlines, registration information and other campus information. Students should contact IT Services for email-related questions. New students will have email accounts created prior to the beginning of the entering semester, assuming the student is registered for classes. Students are required to use the WLU email account for university business. Billing statements will be sent to students via their WLU email account.
SINGLE SIGN ON
All enrolled students will be provided a SingleSignOn account. This account is central to a number of services for WLU, including WINS and SAKAI. A guide to logging into SSO can be found on the IT Services website at: https://westliberty.edu/it/HeLLoid-sso-guide/
When logging into their SSO account for the first time, users will have to enroll in multifactor authentication. The guide on the IT Services website has details about this process.
If a student has issues with logging into their Email, SSO, or WINS accounts, they should reach out to the IT Helpdesk via the ticket system at: https://www.westliberty.edu/helpdesk
WINS
All enrolled students will have an online account via WINS (West Liberty Information System). Important messages are posted in WINS. Currently enrolled students also use WINS to:
- Accept Financial Aid Awards
- View and verify personal information (addresses, telephone numbers, major, advisor, etc.)
- Access Mid-term and Final Grades
- Register for courses - View unofficial transcripts
- Access billing and financial aid information
- Topper Tracks (Degree Audit)
Students should contact the Enrollment Center for WINS questions. Failure to check email and WINS accounts will not remove students from responsibility in meeting stated deadlines and procedures.
SAKAI
Sakai is the Learning Management System used at WLU. It is open-source and supported both by the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Online Education and an external vendor who resolves more complex issues. Every course (in seat, hybrid, and online), uses Sakai. Sakai is accessed using the Single-Sign-On Portal. Students having difficulty with anything related to Sakai should open a Sakai Help Ticket which can be accessed using the GO Menu at www.westliberty.edu > GO WLU > Sakai Help.
