International Students
West Liberty University welcomes and considers qualified applicants from schools and colleges/universities located outside the United States, as WLU is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant students. International students will be admitted into a graduate program if they have satisfactory academic records, meet program requirements, and have evidence of English. Details regarding application requirements for international graduate students and program-specific information are provided by the Office of Graduate Admissions (https://westliberty.edu/graduate-programs/).
International applicants must present evidence of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university (or an international institution approved by the Ministry of Education or other appropriate agency in the institution’s country). And certified English translations must be provided for transcripts and any supporting credentials. International applicants must also meet WLU's English proficiency requirements.
Students from countries where English Language is not the official language and medium of instruction can prove English proficiency by one of the followings:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): score of 61 (Internet based), 173 (computer based) or 500 (paper based)
- International English Language Testing (IELTS): band score of 5.5
- Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic): score of 44
- EIKEN Test: grade 2A
- Duolingo English Test: score of 85+
- U.S. Bachelor diploma from an accredited institution
Graduate applicants may be exempt from providing English Proficiency scores if one of the following criteria is met:
- Completion of at least two years of post-secondary full-time study in a country where English is the primary language and at an institution where English is the primary medium of instruction, within five years of the proposed term of initial enrollment at WLU.
- Completion of at least two years of professional work experience in a country where English is the primary language within five years of the proposed term of initial enrollment at WLU.
- Completion of a post-secondary degree in a country where English is the primary language and at an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, within five years of the proposed term of initial enrollment.
All international applicants notified of acceptance into the graduate program of interest will be working with the Rollie Williams International Center at WLU to start their F-1 Student visa process.
