SOC SOC 301 Sociology of Aging

Focuses on the social features of aging by individuals in various societies. Provides analysis of the social construction of perceptions of aging. Examines the impact of sociological factors on the experience of the aging process, such as social class, ethnicity, economic transitions, and changes in the institution of the family. Changes in a social institution structured to provide care and service to elders are also discussed.
