Psychology 3+3: Bachelor of Science/Master of Clinical Psychology
The 3+3 MA in Clinical Psychology at West Liberty University offers an accelerated pathway to completion. In this option, students who meet the requirements for the combined program after their second year will be permitted to apply for admission to the graduate program in their third year and take graduate-level courses during their fourth year which will count toward the bachelor’s and master’s degree enabling them to complete all undergraduate and graduate requirements in a 6-year time span. The MA in Clinical Psychology will prepare students for licensure as a psychologist in West Virginia or for professional degrees at the doctoral level. The MA in Clinical Psychology is a 54-credit hour degree program which consists of 30 credit hours of coursework, 6 credit hours of practicum, and 18 credit hours of professional internship. TOTAL HOURS for Practicum + Internship = 3000 hrs.
Admission Process
Students entering the 3+3 program, upon completing Core I courses, will complete the Core I exam and submit a portfolio application to the Psychology Program. Students must score 70% on each section of the Core I exam to be accepted. During their third year, 3+3 students will apply to the MACP program. Qualified students will be conditionally accepted into the MACP program, contingent on completing all requirements, and will enroll in Core II courses. Students who are not accepted or choose not to pursue have the option to change their major to the BS Psychology and complete the remaining curricular requirements which would include twelve (12) credits of restricted psychology electives plus any additional requirements to complete the BS Psychology degree.
Students who do not successfully pass Core I courses with a C or better within two attempts will not be admitted to the psychology program and cannot enroll in Core II courses. Students who do not score at least 70% on all sections of the Core I Exam will have to complete a remediation plan to be admitted to the psychology program. At the completion of Core I, students must submit an application for acceptance into the psychology program including an up-to-date portfolio.
Students who proceed to Core II must earn at least a B in all courses and be accepted into the MACP to continue in the MACP program once the core III is completed.
Students will apply to the MACP in their 3rd year. Students must meet MACP requirements and be accepted into the program to proceed to Core III. Students who are not accepted or choose not to continue to the MACP will change their major in the BS in Psychology. Students will complete the BS Psychology program in their 4th year.
Requirements
Psychology Core I
