Health Sciences with a Concentration in Nutrition (MS) - Accelerated Online Program
Purpose
The Master of Science in Health Sciences with a concentration in Nutrition online degree program will build your knowledge and give you the skills and confidence to move into management positions in the field of nutrition. This degree program is unique—it is the only accelerated online MSHS Nutrition program in Texas.
Coursework builds your knowledge of nutrition, prevention of obesity, and health maintenance. You will gain knowledge of diseases associated with nutrition, such as eating disorders, and how to correct them and maintain a patient’s health. This program does not qualify graduates to sit for the Registered Dietitian exam.
Future potential job opportunities include department manager within a hospital or healthcare facility, rehab center or nursing home.
Admission Requirements
Prospective candidates must meet all requirements for graduate admission to UT Rio Grande Valley, as well as the other requirements listed below:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the United States or a recognized international equivalent in allied health science, business, or related field.
- Undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 in the last 60 semester credit hours.
- Two letters of recommendation.
- Letter of intent.
- 3 hours of undergraduate coursework in physiology or anatomy and physiology.
