Student Involvement

Student Involvement is the heart of campus life and campus involvement at UTRGV. We offer students the opportunity to build skills, challenge themselves, engage with people from diverse perspectives, cultivate a competitive edge, form a network, and connect to university resources. The following departments are part of Student Involvement.

Leadership and Mentoring: Vaqueros can participate in leadership development opportunities and get involved with the community. First year students are able to find support and guidance from a mentor. Students can form networks by joining student organizations, fraternities, and sororities or represent the student body in the Student Government Association. Explore issues of social justice and diversity through the intercultural program offerings.

Student Activities: Vaqueros can participate in university traditions such as Best Week Ever, UTRGV Madness, Week of Welcome, Homecoming, and Charreada and become civically engaged in the community through the Vaqueros Vote and the It Takes One civic engagement initiatives. Join the Campus Programming Board, a student-led organization that brings entertainment, movies, cultural events, and road trips to the student body. Be loud and proud right alongside the Spirit Programs by representing UTRGV pride through cheer, dance, the Vaquero mascot, and The Herd spirit organization.

Student Media: Vaqueros can stay informed and connected by reading The Rider newspaper, listening to UTRGV Radio, watching UTRGV-TV, and reading Pulse magazine. Student participants gain valuable insight and experience for media professions.

Visit V-Link (www.utrgv.edu/vlink) to get involved and stay up-to-date with student life. Students can search for student organizations to join, events to attend, and keep track of their involvement. The Corq app can be used to connect to V-Link through a mobile device.
