(RN to BSN Concentration)

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program is a pathway for registered nurses. The Program is designed to enable students to integrate knowledge from theory and research, high-level skills, and concepts of leadership into the practice of professional nursing care of individuals, families, groups, and communities. The BSN Program provides a foundation for graduate study.

Admission, Progression, And Graduation Requirements, if applicable:

Admission Requirements:

  1. Meet UTRGV’s admission requirements.
  2. Have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale in all prerequisite courses.
  3. Provide proof of current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for health care providers.
  4. Provide documentation verifying absence of active (infectious) pulmonary disease.
  5. Provide documentation verifying current immunization or immunity status for specified diseases (hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus/diphtheria or tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis, varicella, flu/influenza, meningitis if <age 22, etc.).
  6. Submit evidence of current active nursing license in state of residence.
  7. Maintain at least $1 million in professional liability insurance.

Progression Requirements:

  1. Provide annual proof of current certification in CPR (health care provider).
  2. Provide annual documentation verifying absence of active (infectious) pulmonary disease.
  3. Maintain a minimum grade of ‘C’ in each required BSN course.
  4. Seek academic advisement each semester regarding program progression.
  5. Abide by and adhere to the BSN Student Guide.

Graduation Requirements:

  1. Complete all BSN prerequisites with a minimum grade of ‘C’ in each course.
  2. Complete all Accelerated RN to BSN core courses.
  3. Have transcript evaluated for all prerequisites by UTRGV Registrars.
