PHI 450 Foundations of Psychology & Psychotherapy

Psychology and psychotherapy are based upon philosophical questions, problems, and themes. Specifically, psychotherapy is a process that employs a variety of treatment models which in turn are based upon specific world views and paradigms. To ensure ontological meaning and integrity of the therapeutic process, the paradigms must be subjected continually to philosophical analysis and critique. Psychotherapy to a large extent is talk therapy or language based. As such, an understanding of the logic of language is essential in the training of a therapist.
