THE 641 Christian Education: Past, Present, & Future

This course highlights the history of the Church's educational ministry. Students read classical and contemporary documents—from Scripture to Augustine to Montessori—as a treasury of wisdom for religious education and pastoral ministry. The course closely parallels the history of theology, of the Church, and of western education. Finally, students compare and contrast modern currents in pedagogical theory and practice with the tradition. Classes may be taught in an in-class, hybrid, or online format and have set times that require virtual participation. (May be taught concurrently with THE 319)
