BS in Medical Imaging

Area of Study Overview

The Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with an area of study in Medical Imaging is limited to certified, licensed radiographers possessing a required certification: ARRT Radiographer; ARRT- RT R; or New Jersey license NJ-LRTR. Qualifying certifications are issued by a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) accredited hospital-based program. Students must present a copy of the original certificate and current renewal card. A total of 18 area of study credits must be from 3000/4000-level courses. The degree is a 120-credit program.

NOTE:

  • Certification: ARRT Radiographer ARRT-RT R or New Jersey license NJ-LRTR copy of original certificate and current renewal card.
  • How Students Earn Credit in the Area of Study: The certification covers almost all of the credits required in the area of study. A second certification nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, or radiation protection would complete the area of study.
  • A total of 18 area of study credits must be from courses at the 3000 level or above.

Students must submit their program plan for review to ensure that course selection is appropriate for the degree.
