REL-4050 World Religions: Exploring Diversity
What do people believe, and how do those beliefs shape their experiences? This course explores the world's religions, from indigenous traditions to major Eastern and Western religions that are practiced worldwide, to new religious movements that return to pagan roots and to the worship of nature. A highlight of this course is its interdisciplinary approach: by drawing from history, sociology, literature, art, philosophy, and theology, students gain access to the rich diversity and consciousness of human cultures around the world. This knowledge will benefit students in a wide range of disciplines and careers as they navigate our diverse world, seek wisdom from new sources, and evaluate information to generate unique insights.
Advisory: This is an upper-level religious studies course. Students should have knowledge equivalent to an introductory course in religious studies.
