ENGL 307 Teaching English in Secondary Schools

This course introduces students to theory and best practices of teaching English at the middle and high school level. The course will introduce students to current theory and effective strategies for teaching writing, reading comprehension and literature, grammar, oral communication, listening, and visual media. Students will discuss and develop English curriculum informed by Pennsylvania's Standards Aligned System, and the National Council of Teachers of English and International Reading Association standards, as well as engage in their own research to improve teaching.
