EDME 516 Multi-Tiered System of Supports for Learning and Behavior

This course takes students from a beginning understanding of social and emotional learning (SEL) and its relevance for educators to an understanding of evidence-based practices to promote resilience and wellness for all students. Includes examination of current and historical conceptions of and research on SEL,multi-tiered systems for SEL support, and implementation and assessment of appropriate SEL practices in educational contexts. Includes a field experience with an experienced educator using evidence-based SEL strategies to allow for observation, implementation, and assessment of these strategies. Requires 20 hours of field experience.
