NUR 247 Nursing Concepts for Complex Care

This course incorporates application of previous skills and concepts in the care of persons across the life-span. Emphasis is on the nurse as manager of care and the application of clinical judgment in providing patient-centered care to a group of patients experiencing complex alterations in health. Key concepts and exemplars in the course include fluid and electrolyte balance, acid/base balance, intracranial perfusion, systemic perfusion, gas exchange, immunity, inflammation, hormonal regulation, and tissue integrity. Clinical practice experience incorporates a concentrated practicum for students to apply new and previously learned skills and concepts, participate as an active member of the health care team, and examine the dynamics of healthcare delivery.
