Veterans’ Aid

Eligible programs at CWC allowing veterans' and eligible dependents to use education benefits administered by the Department of Veterans Affairs are approved by the Wyoming State Approving Agency.

Students who have been discharged from the armed forces after September 1, 1968, may be eligible to receive federal educational aid under the provisions of Public Law 89-358 or 815. Applications may be made through the Veterans Administration Center (Cheyenne, WY 82001) or through the Financial Aid Office at CWC.

Children of deceased veterans or veterans rated 100 percent disabled due to military service in World War II, Korean or Vietnam conflicts may qualify for federal educational aid under provisions of Public Law 634. Application should be made through the Veterans Administration Center (Cheyenne, WY 82001) or through the Financial Aid Office at CWC.

CWC complies with PL 115-407, providing protections for covered individuals to attend while VA payments are pending.

Military Tuition Assistance

If you need assistance paying for college, the Military Tuition Assistance (TA) Program may help lighten your financial load. If you qualify, your service branch pays tuition directly to Central Wyoming College, and can be used for programs either online or on campus.

Members of the military who are eligible to receive federal tuition assistance (TA) must apply online. Authorizations can be emailed to tplumb@cwc.edu. For help getting started, contact Tasha Plumb at tplumb@cwc.edu or 307-855-2017.

Central Wyoming College follows 38 U.S. Code 3679(e) and will not impose any penalty on a Chapter 31 or Chapter 33 recipient,  including: 1) the assessment of late fees; 2) the denial of access to classes; 3) libraries or other institutional facilities and/or 4) require a recipient to borrow additional funds to cover the individual’s inability to meet his or her financial obligations to Central Wyoming College due to the delayed disbursement of a payment by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This requirement is limited to the portion of funds paid by the VA. This protection period ends when VA makes payment or 90 days after the date the school certifies tuition and fees, whichever is earlier.  The covered individual must contact the Business Office to request an exception to the College’s payment policy.
