Transfer of Credit from Other Institutions
Students may use transfer coursework accepted by CWC to satisfy graduation requirements; however, CWC does not use transferred coursework to calculate cumulative grade point averages, nor to determine academic standing. CWC encourages transfer students to provide course descriptions of completed classes and college catalogs from other institutions. The granting of transfer credit does not automatically imply acceptance of those credits to specific degrees since requirements vary from program to program. Transfer credit granted by Central Wyoming College does not imply those credits will be accepted and transfer to other institutions. The following conditions apply regarding transfer credit from another college:
- For all students pursuing an Associate degree or Certificate, Central Wyoming College will evaluate for transfer credit freshman and sophomore college-level courses completed with a “C” or better at accredited institutions of higher education and may consider, on an individual basis, college-level studies from institutions that are not accredited. Credit by Exam courses will be considered on a case by case basis, and will be evaluated in the same manner as other coursework.
- For all students pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science degree, Central Wyoming College will evaluate for transfer credit freshman, sophomore, junior and senior college-level courses completed with a “C” or better at accredited institutions of higher education and may consider, on an individual basis, college-level studies from institutions that are not accredited. Credit by Exam courses will be considered on a case by case basis, and will be evaluated in the same manner as other coursework.
- International transcripts must be evaluated with English translation by an approved evaluation service. We recommend you use Spantran for your evaluation.
- Students are limited to earning a maximum of 75% of the credits in their declared program through Credit for Prior Learning or Transfer Credit.
- If a student has concerns about a transfer of credit evaluation, and wishes to appeal a decision, he or she may appeal to the Registrar’s Office. The student will need to submit a copy of a course syllabus, along with a written request for a review to the Registrar indicating why he or she is asking for the appeal. Other course materials that the student believes to be helpful to the appeal may also be submitted. The Registrar will request a review of all submitted information by a faculty member and/or Division Dean in the content area.

Upon receipt, the Registrar will complete the evaluation. This evaluation will become part of the student’s permanent file.
