EDCI 4580 Early Childhood Special Education Endorsement Practicum

The student will participate in a 45-hour practicum experience under the supervision of a special education teacher. A current Wyoming substitute teaching permit or a completed background check is needed before placement in a classroom. (3 lect.)

Outcomes

In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:

1. Explore classroom management strategies that are effective for children with special needs.

2. Analyze the role of IFSP/IEP in monitoring student progress.

3. Describe how teachers create a classroom for students with special needs that is safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive.

4. Compare the different instructional strategies teachers use for students with special needs.

5. Break down the different methods of assessment used in making educational decisions for children with special needs.
