CPED 1000 Co-Op Work Experience I:

Cooperative work experience is a process of education which formally integrates a student's academic and/or career interest with related paid work experiences in cooperating employer businesses. The teaching faculty, cooperative education coordinator, and the employing supervisor all share in working with a student in developing the training plan for the student. Students may expect to work ten hours per week in an approved occupation. Online discussions will address workplace related areas of human relations, legal work environment, etc. Prerequisites: A declared area of emphasis, permission of faculty coordinator and advisor. (1 lect., 10 work experience.)

In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:

1. Report and explain the types of employment available in the profession or chosen course of study.

2. Identify and explain the day-to-day operations involved in this specific position.

3. Describe the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired through the academic experience or course of study applied in the work experience.

4. Describe the skills and competencies in written and/or oral communication, interpersonal and personal skills applied in the work experience.

5. Develop skills and competencies in locating/collecting and analyzing information as it pertains to the chosen profession, job or work experience.

6. Identify experiences and knowledge which will assist in clarifying career interests.

7. Demonstrate continued employment.

8. Demonstrate growth in employment skills and knowledge by attaining goals set in conjunction with the student, employer, and/or Cooperative Education Faculty Coordinator and by completing online exercises.
