ART 1350 Metal Fabrication
This course teaches various techniques in creating fabricated steel art works. Instruction includes blacksmithing and welding equipment, as well as finishing techniques and surface treatments for steel. The development of ideas and concepts are encouraged through theory, criticism, and historical reference. This course may be repeated for a maximum of six credits applicable toward graduation. Outcomes
In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:
1. Make aesthetic and intellectual judgments on sculptural themes.
2. Create an abstract sculpture
3. Translate a figurative drawing into a sculpture using the elements of Art.
4. Create a piece of sculpture inspired by nature.
5. Work on a group collaboration creating a large scale sculpture adapted from a small scale model.
6. Speak about the artwork of historical and contemporary artists, fellow students, and personal artwork.
7. Talk about a sculptor and their artwork.
