Program Description
The welding program is designed to provide the student with the skills and knowledge needed in today’s welding industry. To be successful in the welding industry, a person must be able to adapt to work styles that require dependability, attention to detail, safety-consciousness, self-control, adaptability/flexibility, initiative, and cooperation.
The program combines hands-on welding experiences with classroom instruction in commonly used welding processes. Safety is emphasized in all areas of the welding program.
The AAS degree requires the student to complete 60 credits of coursework and features a complete welding curriculum, including all five welding processes (Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Flux Core Arc Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, and Oxyacetylene Welding and Cutting) with an emphasis on blue-print reading, metallurgy, and weld inspection technology. Hands-on welding performance is required to complete the AAS degree. (Wyoming Works Eligible)
