EDUC 1100 American Indian Education

This course is designed to address the pertinent issues of American Indian education in the United States. It includes a comprehensive historical review of traditional American Indian ways of knowing and learning, and the changes in this process brought on by 130 years of U.S. government policy and regulation. Theories of education, including content (curricula) and processes (ways of learning) will be examined in this context, as well as techniques to be successful teaching in Indian/Non-Indian classrooms. Students who receive credit in this course may not receive credit in AIST 1100. (3 lect.)
