CAS-113 Mindfulness, Meditation, and Wellbeing
Life pulls us in many directions. We’re urged to buy this, avoid that, finish one task while starting another—all amid constant noise and competing demands for our attention. Mindfulness offers a different way of relating to these pressures. Instead of being swept along by distraction, criticism, or judgment, we can train our minds to meet each moment with greater clarity and compassion. Research shows that developing present-moment awareness can reduce stress, strengthen concentration, and improve overall wellbeing. In this one-credit course, you will explore what mindfulness is, how your mind responds to the external world, and how those responses can generate unnecessary stress. Through readings, guided practice videos, and reflection, you will learn practical strategies to soften reactivity, increase self-awareness, and cultivate a kinder relationship with yourself and others.
